A major test for the company was just around the corner: the liquidation of the company by the National Socialist regime. EVVA managed to prop up production fairly well over several years. However, year after year, sourcing raw materials presented a great challenge for the company. At the end of 1943, the Nazi regime banned the production of all locks and escutcheons that were not crucial to the war effort and even threatened to shut down EVVA's local production facilities.
