Simply smart: new AirKey features now available

"Imagine you can simply send registrations online to any smartphone. Authorised persons receive a text message (SMS) containing a digital key code. Users can simply and securely gain access thanks to end-to-end encryption. This is no longer a vision of the future, but has become a reality", Hanspeter Seiss explains as the AirKey Product Manager at EVVA. The process is made possible by AirKey's new send a key function that has now been added as part of a new update. However, in addition to the existing function it's not just send a key that makes gaining access easier. Geotagging has also been added to the range of available functions. "In this process, the smartphone knows where the component is located within the master key system and the navigation app will then guide you accordingly. This is particularly useful if persons are granted temporary access and need to find their bearings first."

Now also for iPhones<br/> Thanks to the extension of previous NFC components [1] (Near Field Communication) to Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) we have significantly enhanced the user group. Users have the choice. "AirKey users can now choose which technologies meet their user behaviour more and which software they use to unlock components." They can either use NFC or BLE. Both meet the most stringent security standards.

An app that turns smartphones into keys<br/> The redesigned AirKey app matches AirKey online administration. It saves access authorisations and turns smartphones into keys. It also turns smartphones into coding stations by updating AirKey locking components and identification media. Turning smartphones into keys is easy: "download the app to your smartphone, simply enter the registration code you receive by text message (SMS) and decide yourself whether or not you would like to additionally protect the app using a PIN." Installed encryption methods will guarantee additional, effective protective mechanisms on smartphones themselves. Consequently, you can enter and thus boost the security level either by PIN code and/or screen lock (fingerprint scan, face unlock feature).

Security in high-grade design<br/> The high-quality AirKey cylinder comes with security features, such as plug pulling and drilling protection, rotary damper and integrated secure element to guarantee secure data storage. The cylinder's modular design (SY-MO) is also unique. It enables adaptations of the length on site and makes planning easier. In 2017 the AirKey product family was rounded up by the AirKey padlock and hybrid cylinder that cleverly merges mechanical and electronic components in a single door.

Data protection as a top priority<br/> Today, AirKey already meets the stringent data protection guidelines defined in the EU data protection directive which will come into force in May 2018. In collaboration with renowned data protection expert Dr Christof Tschohl we have developed AirKey as the access system that has been geared most towards data protection.
