St. Andrew’s Secondary School (Singapore)

The client

St. Andrew’s Secondary School is an Anglican all-boys school run according to traditional British lines. The school itself belongs to the mega cluster of The Saints Family, of which all its schools – including the St. Andrew’s Junior School and St. Andrew’s Junior College - are located in the St. Andrew’s Village in Potong Pasir which is the central part of Singapore.

The challenge

The operations manager of St. Andrew’s Secondary School contacted ACOM Asian Resources Pte Ltd, a well-established EVVA AirKey certified partner, in hopes of finding a solution to minimize the cost and effort in managing the administration of physical, mechanical keys. Prior to contacting ACOM Asian Resources Pte Ltd, 2 students per class were assigned security in charge duties for classrooms, whereby they had to unlock and lock the classroom for their cohorts. The students had to draw out the physical keys from the general office before class and return them after class every day.

The solution

Mr. Jerrold Neo with Mr. Ong Hiap Leong of ACOM Asian Resources Pte Ltd proposed and presented the EVVA AirKey system to the school’s operation team. After presenting the AirKey system with Mr. Ryan Goh (EVVA’s Singapore Sales Manager) and by highlighting the use of smartphones to access any doors secured with AirKey component, the operations team of St. Andrew’s Secondary School were intrigued by the potential of AirKey in their daily operations. To enable the users at St. Andrew’s Secondary School to experience first-hand all the benefits of the powerful and simple AirKey system, ACOM offered a trial installation to the school, whereby users could test AirKey cylinders and AirKey padlocks. The response was ecstatic and the choice was an easy one to make for the school. Soon after the test installation, the school’s operation team decided to use 61 AirKey cylinders in over 40 classrooms, science rooms, IT rooms, design and technical rooms and 2 AirKey padlocks for their hall and canteen. Today, the school is considering expanding the use of the AirKey system to even more rooms within the St. Andrew’s Secondary School and potentially the entire St. Andrew’s Village.
