When EVVA launched the Magnetic Code System at the end of the 1970s, customers and media initially had serious concerns. People were suspicious of the magnet technology; it was considered too complicated and unstable. We were swimming against the tide. But not for long. Together with Mr Kirchmayr, a professor and Head of the Institute for Experimental Physics at Vienna Technical University at the time, we demonstrated the resistance of the system with spectacular tests: MCS survived the washing machine test as well as a fall from the 12th floor of a high-rise building. The spectacular test: the MCS key was cooked with scrambled eggs – live in front of 250 sceptical visitors in the hall! Afterwards everything still worked perfectly. Everyone was convinced and MCS became a best-selling product.
